Cornish Mines and Engines

Two great beam engines were used for pumping water and winding men and ore up and down. The engines were originally powered by high-pressure steam, introduced by Richard Trevithick, a local engineer. The site also includes the Industrial Discovery Centre, which provides a fascinating audio-visual history.
