Learning Outside the Classroom – the ‘Out and About’ Package

Every young person should experience the world beyond the classroom as an essential part of learning and personal development, whatever their age, ability or circumstances. The Teach Out website and A4 full colour regionalised directories are the easy way to influence Primary, Secondary, Further Education and S.E.N. teachers who are planning class visits, and/or inviting in-school external educators (eg. theatre groups, wildlife and environment roadshows etc) to their schools and colleges.

Following consultation with teachers, outdoor education advisers and educational visit co-ordinators the first region to be covered was the South West of England. The first hard-copy directory was distributed to teachers in schools across Cornwall, Devon, Dorset and Somerset prior to Easter 2007.

Autumn 2007 heralds the distribution of a Teach Out directory giving specific information for teachers in Hampshire, Sussex and Kent. As well as the hard-copy directory, all this information will also be added to the website.

Keep logging on for news of launches in other parts of the UK during 2008.

Both the hard-copy directories and this website are designed to meet staff room requirements. Both are presented in an easy-to-use, multi-search design with the hard-copy directories being distributed direct to teachers.

If you are a venue suitable for educational group visits or an individual or organisation offering talks or workshops to schools and colleges then you can be listed on the Teach Out website immediately as well as in the next edition of the annual Teach Out directory covering your region.
