Fowey based business Rugged Interactive, which secured offers of £100,000 in investment on the BBC’s Dragon’s Den recently, ran a graphic design workshop with Roche Primary School in Cornwall.

“We’re going through a tremendously exciting period of growth here at Rugged Interactive” commented Simon Heap, Founder & Creative Director. “At the core of everything we do, is our mission to help everyone stay fit and healthy in an engaging way, to motivate all age groups and encourage people to keep their mind and body active. Collaborating with Roche Primary is a fantastic way to inspire and be inspired!”

Roche Primary School have been using a pair of CardioWalls since September 2016, and have enjoyed working with Rugged Interactive ever since. “With obesity rates continuing to rise in the UK and worldwide, and nearly one in three children overweight or obese by the time they leave primary school, we’re doing everything we can to show young people that staying fit and healthy can be enjoyable, competitive and exciting - as well as being vitally important” said Simon.

As “leaders in motivational fitness technology”, Rugged Interactive design and manufacture a range of products including CardioWalls, using touch lightpods, electronics and game programs “to give a total mind and body workout.”

“As a school that embraces new technology in our drive for constant improvement, the CardioWalls encourage competitiveness and motivate self-improvement” commented Jeremy Walden, Head Teacher at Roche Primary School. “Children experience a sense of achievement and improvement very quickly. They see their scores improve and work out how to refine and improve their own performance through practice.”

Simon visits the school regularly to gather feedback from the children and teachers, make improvements where possible and collate designs for future CardioWalls.

“Not only is it incredibly inspiring to work with the children who are all so receptive and eager to get involved, it’s very fulfilling to share such an important message about health and fitness with our future generation” said Lauren Anning, Designer and Production Admin. “Some of the group had even watched our appearance on Dragon’s Den and were very excited to share their ideas with us!”
